Mezzacello Urban Farm’s Mission and Vision
What if there were a farm in the city where kids and adults could come together to experience nature, life, wonder, and science?
Our Mission:
Imagine a farm in the city where both kids and adults can come together to experience nature, life, wonder, and science.
Our Vision:
Create frictionless opportunities for people to explore relationships between ecologies, farming, robotics, automation, and applied STEM in a densely populated urban environment.
GROW
Ag-science focuses on maintaining healthy ecosystems and addressing both specific and global needs. It nurtures the ecosystem as a whole to ensure all parts support land and life. A key aspect of Grow is transforming the urban environment into healthy soil that supports diverse ecosystems and wildlife.
MAINTAIN
Learn, Employ, and share the practices and techniques for maintaining a healthy urban ecosystem, including private formal gardens, a large potager garden, an herb garden, and the care of various animals such as chickens, ducks, rabbits, quail, and fish.
Additionally, it involves managing crickets and worms, utilizing several greenhouses, and having the necessary tools, chemicals, and systems to sustain a balanced homestead.
EXPLAIN
The grounds include formal gardens, food gardens, ponds, parterres, livestock, and learning labs, all aimed at immersing children in STEM concepts related to sustainability. This blend of nature and technology creates an engaging environment for kids to play and explore.
