Mezzacello offers workshops that range from natural systems, to life science and farm animals, to bioengineering and mechanical engineering.

Workshops are developed around our mission here at Mezzacello Urban Farm to educate and promote a better understanding of life and a farm, from the atom up. All workshops are affordably priced amd optimized for fun and hands on learning!

  • Grow It Workshop

    In this half day workshop we will be working with raised beds and seedlings to determine how we can use the resources on the farm to create water, fertilizer, and soil to help plants grow.

  • Make It Work Workshop

    Now for something completely different. This workshop is open to the general public, but it is designed for young inventors who may be looking for a place to test and build their inventions. They are this invited to use Mezzacello Urban Farm's 3D printers, laser cutters, mechanical tools, and CAD labs. Do you have a great idea you want to explore? Spend an afternoon at Mezzacello and let us -- and other young inventors work with you!

    Simple Machines

    This is another young inventor's workshop! In this workshop, attendees will explore the six basic simple machines and how we build more advanced mechanical machines and compound simple machines from those. Bring your family and have a blast!

  • Leadership Academy Workshops with Mezzacello Events

    Leaders are made. Leaderships is a skill that students are eager to learn. Mezzacello Urban Farm has years of experience working with young leaders. In fact, This workshop will be led by Mezzacello youth mentors and interns.

  • Animals On a Farm

    30 minutes @ $90.00 Find a Day

    In this engaging and hands on workshop students and families are invited to learn about the various livestock breeds we keep at Mezzacello Urban Farm. In addition to meeting the various livestock, we will also be learning about how these animals add to our biodiversity and ecologies in unique and surprising ways!

    Gloves and waterproof rubber boots are a REQUIREMENT for this workshop.

    Partners Not Pets

    Mezzacello Urban Farm keeps a cadre of poultry, rabbits, rodents, fish, insects, pollinators, predators, bacteria, plants, and algae. Many of them are cute and cuddly. None of them are pets. The humans at Mezzacello Urban Farm have planned exactly the animals and organisms that share our farm. We think you'll be fascinated too!

    Note: Sterilizable boots are a REQUIREMENT for this workshop. We take Avian Flu very seriously. Gloves will be provided.

  • Renewable Energy Workshop

    3 hours @ $90.00 Find a Day

    In this one day workshop we will be building a battery array and powering it with solar panels to activate a fan to cool rabbits and chickens, or to run a bubbler in a pond.

    Power Up! Workshop

    3 hours @ $90.00 Find a Day

    This will be fun! In this hands on electrical engineering workshop we will be exploring the role of circuits, solar and wind systems, amperage, inverters, and advanced power generation. this is an introduction to the electrical and power generation systems used at Mezzacello Urban Farm.

    This camp is open to all, but children aged under 10 will require an adult to attend with them. Families are welcome, but due to the advanced nature of this topic, focus needs to be on teaching safely.

  • Agrify Everything Workshop

    This half day hands-on workshop allows students and families to explore how applied STEM is everywhere on an urban farm. Farming, fun, robots, animals, automation, and energy production.

    Four Fertilizers

    3 hours @ $90.00 Find A Day

    In this engaging and hands on workshop, students and families can learn how Mezzacello Urban Farm creates its four signature fertilizers. These fertilizers are 100% natural and organically sourced. Workshop attendees will be able to make samples on site and how to make their own.
