Leadership, Confidence, and Self-Reflection:
Here is what we have discovered about that.
The Three Principles of Leadership.
-
CONFIDENCE
How we build confidemce:
Confidence is a gift you give yourself. Only you can give it.
It has a positive pathway: SUCCESS.
It has a negative pathway: FAILURE.
But both pathways build on Character, Community. and Curiosity — and it starts here.
-
CHARACTER
Character is how you see the world through confidence, empathy, and determination. From this photo you can’t tell if this was a success or success borne of failure.
That is the point. a good leader encourages, emoathizes and celebrates both the successes, the failures, and the best efforts.
A good leader is taught to be of the team and for the team. Not everyone c an do this, character is a curated activity and some people can’t lead. But when you are confident that you can, this is where you start.
-
COMMUNITY
The gentleman in the middle is my 2025 intern, Marcus. He is celebrating and being celebrated by a group of middle school kids.
Why? Because Marcus showed up on this day and had 15 minutes tounderstand quantum effects in nature and then describe it WITH VISUALS how that works.
How did he do this? He built a community that wanted to support him and believed in him and in return THEY believed in themselves.
Powered by Curiosity
Leadership requires a few skills to manifest, but the beating heart of leadership is curiosity.
All good leaders:
Ask questions and care about helping, solving, and protecting their followers.
Know they are not the smartest person in the room, but they are curious who is so they can delegate.
Curious about the origin, solution, and action needed to take to fully understand the issue at hand.
Is your child a leader in disguise? Now, aren’t you curious?
